First, let start with the begining of the day. The HRL All-Star HR Derby!   The HR Derby had 10 players competiting for the top spot.  Here is the 1st round break down.

 

Zack- 0, Seeatch- 0, Mink- 1,  Dave V.- 2, Cody- 3, Dan D.- 3, Dan L.- 4, Steve- 5, Elliot- 8 , Randy- 10

 

6 players moved onto the 2nd round, Here are the totals:

Cody, Dan L., Steve- 3 each.  Elliot and Dan D.- 4 each. Randy- 5. 

 

The finals were Dan D., Elliot, Randy.

 

Dan D. went first and ended up with- 0

Elliot was next and set the bar at- 2

Then Randy followed with 2 out and then 2 quick HR'S after a 3rd out he nailed one to center for his back to back HR ASG HR Derby Championship!

 

 

Now onto the Game.   We started last year with the Moriarty and the Foley Divisions.  This year we continued that trend as We voted for the top 12 and then did a non-traditional pick-up style.  We had 9 of the 12 AS in attendance with Zack being the only Non-AS.  So it was 5 on 5.  Steve's Moriarty Squad that consisted of Dan L., Dave V, Dan D. and Mink ( All were selected AS ) Vs Elliots Foley Crew which featured, Randy, Seeatch,Cody ( All Selected AS) and a Non-AS in Zack. 

 

The games Starters were, The Steve Vs Randy.  After no score from Foley in the top half Moriarty went right to work.  As Steve lead off with an out and Dan L. Walked to set up Dave V. for a 2-run shot.  Two quick outs after that and it was 2-0 MO-Squad after 1. Again nothing but a Walk from Elliot in the 2nd ( His 2nd time on base, 1st inning hit ) and 2 K's to end the top half of the 2nd.  The bttom half had Steve lead off with a solo shot upping the lead to 3-0 a Hit and Walk by Dave put two on with no outs.  An Orbi from mink made it 4-0 after 2.   Onto the 3rd where two new pitchers entered the game.  For Mo-Squad it was Dan L., For Foley it was Cody. Foley another Hit by Elliot was all the visitors good get.  The Bottom of the 3rd had Dave lead off with a HR to make it 5-0 Moriarty.  Cody settled in and duidnt let up anymore runs.  After 3 it was 5-0 Moriarty.  The top of the 4th Saw the foley squad get moving, Seeatch elad off walk a re for Zack and Out a walk and an Orbi by Randy made it 5-1.   Nothing for the Mo-in the 4th.  Onto the 5th where 2 new pitchers entered. Mink for Mo, and Seeatch for Foley.   Foley wasted no time picking up 2 runs off a seeatch orbi.  Moriarty did answer back with 1 off a Dave V. Sac fly in the bottom half and a scoeless 6th left the game 6-3 Moriarty headed into the 7th.  In the top half Seatch Hit, Zack out and a Cody Hit Rbi pulled the game within 2 at 6-4.  Elliot  pitching the 7th and 8th shut down the Moriarty squad, But they had answer also as Dave V.  was ready to tryt o save the game with and secure a possible MVP.  A scorless 8th Set up a top half of the 9th for Foley down by 2.  With a quick 1st out a hit folowed putting the run to tie at the plate.  a K from Elliot and Seeatch ended the game giving the Moriarty team 2 straight wins at the ASG. 

 

Final 6-4 Moriarty.  A well fought great game with great weather. Congrats to all the All-Stars and everyone on the day.

For Dave's Performance he was voted as the games MVP for the second year in a row!!! Congrats.
