This past week brought HR's, Milestones and plenty of Offense!

Rookie Chris goes 2-1 on the week and Lamby gets qualifed......

Lets start from the top.   Rookie Chris made a big splash this week picking up 2 wins and nearly a 3rd against the current Champ Dan Lambert.  Chris had two huge offensive attacks with a 19-9 victory over Boom and a an 18-12 win over Mink.  A few days later Chris nearly pulled off the upset before falling on hard luck giving up a 3 run shot to Boom in the 6th faling behind 5-4. In the bottom half Seeatch hit a solo shot to bnring it to Extra's.  Chris again faltered giving up a two run shot to Dan. Chris and his team were unable to score dropping th rookie to a 3-1 mark on the year.  Dan helping his own cause prevented the 2nd year vet from having his first 3-game losing streak in the HRL. Dan with the win moved to 6-2 on the year and qualified for the playoffs.

Truck Brings the bat as Spleen gets to 5-3 on the year......

Next,  We saw another Vet looking to qualify for the playoff's with his 8th start of the year. Last year we saw the return of Spleen late in the year.  With that late start in 2009 he was unable to get the number of starts to qualify. He has been on a mission in 2010, get in the playoff's! Before all that we had unexpected visit from...... "Truck"! . This was Trucks first visit to the park since he was elected to the HRL HOF in 2006.  It was a huge advantage to Spleen.  Spleen was set to Square off with HRL vet Mike Canu. Spleen having first pick took Truck, and it sure paid off.  Truck went 5-6 with 5 HR's in his first 5 AB's. He drove in 8 of the 12 runs for Spleen.  Canu pitched well and would have come away with a 5-4 win if it wasnt for the offensive outburst from Pat.  With the win Spleen puts himslef in good position for a top 4 spot heading into the playoff's. He is now 5-3.  Mike falls to 1-2 on the year.

Steve gets to 9 Wins and Belts his 800th HR!

Next had two 8-4 records against one another.  Steve and Cody. Cody who had already beat Steve 15-1 earlier this year was in prime position to get some breathing room in the hunt for the playoffs.  It was not to be. Steve gave up only 4 hits and a 2 run HR to Spleen as he beat Cody 9-2 on his way to his 9th win.  Brett helped the Steve with 4 Rbi's.  The Steve Helped himself and put the game away with a 2-run shot in the 5th gave him an 8-2 advantage.  The HR was a huge milestone as the Steve became the 3rd player to reach 800 Home Runs in his career.  Cody fell to 8-5 on the year with the loss.

Joey P makes a run at it......Picks up 2 wins on Saturday!

Joey who played earlier this year for the first time in 10 years came out again.  This time with a purpose.  Joey wanted to get clsoer to getting into the playoffs.  Well he inched closer. Joey started teh day picking up loss 3 on the year.  In the process Zack finally won! Zack who had lost 6 straight since starting 6-2 picked up a 15-5 win over Joey.  Elliot was huge for Zack belting 3 HR's and driving in 8 Rbi's. For Joey's Twins,  Steve Belted 4 HR's and had all 5 Rbi's.

Joe gets 1st win of the year.....

Joey would not be denied though as he kept Elliot in check facing him 2 more games and only giving up 2 more HR's to himt he rest of the day.  The Steve on the other hand belted 7 more bombs to inch closer to Elliot and make this HR race a little intresting. ( More on that later. )  Joey next Pitched against the Mink.  He made quick work of him as a 13-2 Victory ended things in 4 inning.  With the win Joe moved to 1-3 on the year.

Joe picks up win # 2 as Steve becomes the All-Time leader in Home Runs at Pops Park....

The last game of the day pitted Joe against Brett. On paper this one looked like it coudl be a long game.....It was but not because of walks or a thousand runs. It was a long game and a good one.  Joe who held the advantage all game up 10-4 in the 5th started to give it back.  Brett's, Americans put up 4 in the 5th and 3 in the bottom of the 6th to send it to Extra's tied at 11 runs a piece. A scoreless 7th lead to a 2-run 8th for Joe's Twins including  The Steve's 811th HR ( 11th of the day ) which put him as the All-Time HR leader at Pops par. The HR put him 1 ahead of Cary with 810. Cary who is the All-Time Leader has 1652 All-Time.  The two run lead would hold up as a Solo HR from Elliot would be all they would get in the bottom half.  Joe moves to 2-3 on the year, Brett falls to 0-2.

Dan D. Gets back into the Hunt.......

Dan pitches two and goes 1-1 on a monday to pull to 4-3 on the year.

Dan D. came down Monday and pitched in 2 mercy games.  Unfortunately for him only 1 went his way.   Steve who has just been on a tear this past week with 11 HR's continued that again. He belted 7 more in 2 games and 28 Rbi's.   That helped Dan and Hurt him.

The 1st game was Dan Vs Steve. Steve was looking to reach double digit wins for the 6th time in the last 8 years.  Dan was looking to pick up some starts and get a win and playoff spot. For Dan lead his own cause belting 2 HR and driving in 3. Mike Canu added a HR and 2 Rbi's to round out the Cardinals 5 runs. It would not be enough though as Steve lead his own cause with 3 HR's and 16 Rbi's! Seeatch added a HR and 4 Rbi's to help the Pirates to a 22-5 win.

Dan gets some Offensive help and a big win.....

Game 2 saw Seeatch Vs Dan.  Steve again got the offense going with another huge game.  Steve started with a huge Grand Slam in the 1st and Dan Didn't look back.  3 more HR's from Steve and 8 more Rbi's helped lead Dan to a 16-6 win. Dan hit a HR and added 3 Rbi's including the mercy win walk-off in the 4th with a 3-run shot.  Leading the way for Nat's was Seeatch with 6 hits a HR and 3 Rbi's. Mink added 2 Rbi's to round things out.

The HR race gets a bit closer.....

With 18 HR's this past week Steve has moved within 2 of Elliot in the HR title Race.  Things will certainly be close down the stretch in all catagories. HR for HR and Rbi for Rbi.  This should be a great finish to the year for everyone!
Good Luck to both of them and everyone.   I want to let all of you know that the season is slowly coming to an end so get those games in now and make a run a the playoffs.
